I’m so thrilled you’re here on Day 1 of this brand new website!
A little about me: In the interest of online anonymity, I’ll just refer to myself as S. In my previous blogging life, I spent three years documenting my family’s debt repayment journey over at The $76K Project. We shared our wins, our not-wins, our budgeting disasters, and the snail’s pace reality of trying to pay off a lot of debt on a limited income in a high cost of living area.
We’re still chipping away at one remaining student loan (and will be for the foreseeable future), but in the meantime, I’ve learned a few valuable lessons:
(1) Reaching your money goals can take a long time, and that’s perfectly okay.
(2) There are no hard and fast rules for How To Money.
(3) A little encouragement can go a long, long way.
That last part is ultimately why I decided to launch this new project. In my experience, there’s not enough encouragement in personal finance, which is too bad because getting your financial house in order can be hard.
I’m not here to tell you what to do with your money (although I may occasionally offer general, widely applicable advice). I’m not here to compare Roth and traditional IRAs, recommend investments, or tout a particular budgeting strategy (although I can point you to people who know a whole lot about those topics and can explain them in an interesting and accessible way).
I’m certainly not here to judge you for your financial choices.
Rather, my goal with this website is simply to offer encouragement and affirmation to anyone who’s striving to make progress on their own personal finance journey.
I’m here to cheer you on and build you up.
Financial Superstar is for you if you’re:
-just starting to get a handle on your personal finances
-trying to improve your financial circumstances (pay off your debt, build up your savings, etc.)
-working towards specific financial goals
-feeling discouraged about your finances or facing money-related hardships
-motivated by random well-meaning strangers on the Internet telling you on a regular basis how awesome you are.
One final and important note: “Financial Superstar” doesn’t refer to me (or at least, not exclusively).
It refers to YOU!
You’re the Financial Superstar.
Maybe you don’t feel like it yet, but trust me on this one. It’s true. Or it can be true. It will be true!
If you’re managing your finances as best you can and using your money in a way that benefits you now and in the future, that grants you automatic Financial Superstar status – regardless of your income, debt, savings, cost of living, career trajectory, or past decisions.
I’ll be posting every Tuesday and Friday. If you subscribe, you’ll receive these messages right to your inbox on Saturday.
Although comments won’t always be open on the posts themselves, I’d love to hear from you! You can reach me via the contact form in the menu or on Twitter at @The76kProject.
I’m so excited to be cheering you on!
